This 40 day program is designed to help you clean up your obligations register, remove waste, and improve your overall coverage to prepare you for the year ahead.

What is an Internal Obligation?

Internal Obligations are obligations that your organization has imposed on itself voluntarily or through an agreement with a third party. In contrast to External Obligations which are imposed by a third party (i.e. Government), Internal Obligations are generated through the activities you engage in. Examples include corporate policies, environmental permits, contracts, stakeholder engagements and other agreements you have chosen to adopt.

Challenge Objectives

By accepting this challenge you will:

  • Improve your current obligations register.
  • Increase the probability of meeting more of your obligations.
  • Learn and reinforce proactive behaviours to keep your register up-to-date and effective.

During the 40 days you will clean up your obligations register by working through the following objectives:

  1. Eliminate compliance waste (outdated obligations, missing data, inaccuracies)
  2. Update register with missing or changed obligations (internal and external obligations)
  3. Evaluate compliance risk and incorporate them into your register
  4. Develop actionable status reporting from your obligations register
  5. Implement a continuous improvement process to always keep your register up-to-date and effective.

The more you put in the more you will get out. To receive the benefits of this program you will need to:

  • Work through weekly exercises
  • Engage in weekly group coaching sessions
  • Take advantage of the available resources

The 2021 Internal Obligations Cleanup Challenge is your opportunity to engage and learn from others who also want to improve their compliance. You will benefit from following a structured process to keep you accountable and on track as you learn how to improve your obligations register to better protect your organization from the effects of compliance risk.
