Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS/SS)
Established in 1922, the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and publication of standards across a diverse range of subjects. Serving as Sweden’s national standards body, SIS represents the country in both the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
SIS functions as the project manager for Swedish initiatives aimed at developing standards. Its primary goal is to enhance Sweden’s influence in international collaborations and to promote best practices that support the sustainable development of Swedish society.
The organization is actively involved in various sectors of Swedish society, such as academia, the public sector, and non-governmental organizations. SIS and its members work collaboratively to establish standards in diverse domains, including construction, safety, healthcare, consumer products, management systems, engineering, environmental issues, and safety. Additionally, SIS actively participates in the development of international standards within the European and global networks.
