3.3.30 Document Types

Document Type, showing the general nature (legal status, purpose) of the document. Each document only has one Document Type. Nimonik’s core offering (for the library and for external actions) is the Laws document type. For other document types, Nimonik offers the documents that are already in the library, and can add other specific documents on request.

  • Laws: Law created by the governing body of a jurisdiction; documents that are primary or secondary legislation.
  • Industry Standards: Documents published by associations that mandate certain actions, activities, or equipment. Industrial standards such as those published by NFPA or CSA.
  • Notices, Orders & Directives: Documents that are not Laws or Industry Standards, but that contain things that companies must do.
  • Guidance: Documents that are not Laws or Industry Standards, and do not contain things that companies must do.
  • News: Documents that have only transient historical value (e.g., news releases) and that are either of the following. This document type is not used for Laws, Guidance, Industry Standards, General (Gov) Permit, Notices, Orders & Directive.
    • Published on tracking sources that have been identified by Nimonik as “News sources” or
    • Individually requested by customers.
  • General (Gov) Permit: Documents that are general permits issued by governments; for example, US general wastewater permits. This document type is not used for legislation, or for company-specific permits.
  • Internal Obligation: Customers’ internal documents.
